Alcohol-free South Side

Like many classic cocktails, this cocktail appeared during Prohibition in the United States. Its precise origin is unknown; some say it was created at the 21 Club in New York or in a bar in the South Side of Chicago. What is certain is that it was one of the favorite cocktails of the thugs of the time.

Ingredients

  • 6cl Non-Alcoholic Gin
  • 3cl of fresh lemon juice
  • 1.5 cl of sugar syrup
  • 5-6 fresh mint leaves

Preparation

It's best to make this cocktail in a shaker, but don't worry, an empty jam jar works just fine. If you don't have either of those, you can make this cocktail directly in a glass.

If you have a shaker: Put all the ingredients in the shaker, add ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Serve in a chilled coupe glass.

If you don't have a shaker: In a tall glass, add the mint leaves and sugar syrup, and muddle lightly. Add ice cubes and the remaining ingredients, and stir well with a spoon. Strain into a coupe glass through a small sieve.

You can decorate with a mint leaf
