Some anniversaries are particularly worth celebrating.
For seven years, Gueule de Joie has been travelling the roads, meeting producers, tasting, selecting, championing alcohol-free drinks that have something to say. Seven years building a simple conviction: pleasure doesn't need alcohol to exist.
So to mark the occasion, a glass had to be raised. Not just any glass… With a good beer.
Because beer is something we love at Gueule de Joie, and also because it is the popular drink par excellence — the one that brings people together for every occasion.
We've tasted hundreds of alcohol-free beers. In every style, in every country. We've learned to recognise the ones that work. The ones that wear you down. The ones that promise more than they deliver. So for our anniversary, we brewed our own.
An alcohol-free blonde ale, conceived in our own image: free, festive, accessible — but with depth.
A statement beer, too, that pays tribute to all the French and European breweries pushing the boundaries with rigour and creativity.
It genuinely tastes like beer — and that's the whole challenge
We could have told a fine story. We chose to start with the taste. Because when it comes down to it, that's where everything is decided.
A zero-alcohol beer that actually tastes like beer is harder to achieve than it sounds. Too often, there's a compromise between lightness and character, between accessibility and expression.
Here, we sought balance — the kind you don't notice straight away, but that makes you want to come back.
A soft, almost rounded attack. Then the malt settles in, quietly. A bitterness that arrives without rushing. And a fresh, slightly vegetal finish that cleanses the palate without tiring it.
Nothing extravagant. But nothing hollow.
Just an artisan alcohol-free blonde ale that keeps its promise. A beer you understand from the very first glass — and that makes you want a second.
What's in it — and what we refused to put in
Behind this sensation of simplicity lies a great deal of precision.
The malts: Pale Ale, Pilsen, Munich, with a honey biscuit touch.
The hops: Golding for spice, Cascade for floral and citrus notes.
The signature: elderflower, lime blossom, orange zest. Not for show. To get it right.
And above all: no added sugars, no artificial flavourings, no preservatives, no colourings.
We could have overdone it. We chose to get it right.
A good alcohol-free beer often starts with what you decide not to add.
Beer at 0.0 or 0.3%? What it really changes
Our beer has an alcohol content of 0.3% — which officially classifies it as an alcohol-free beer (below the legal threshold of 1.2%). This residual level is the natural result of fermentation, not a deliberate addition.
And above all: no dealcoholisation. This is a beer designed from the outset to be at this level, not a classic beer from which the alcohol was removed after the fact.
A controlled, natural fermentation that preserves the integrity of all the ingredients.
It's almost a detail. But it's often where the difference hides between a truly alcohol-free 0% beer… And the rest.
Brewed in Belgium: where beer is almost a language
As is often the case at Gueule de Joie, everything begins with an encounter. This time, destination Belgium. Not for the symbolism, but for the expertise.
We found brewers who understand without needing it explained, who know that balance isn't written down — it's felt. Our job is to select. Theirs is to brew.
A dialogue, more than a production.
A Belgian blonde ale at heart, conceived for the moments of today.
For enthusiasts and newcomers alike — and that's rare
This artisan alcohol-free beer wasn't conceived for a profile. It was conceived for a moment: the one when you want freshness without compromise, to clink glasses without overthinking it.
Enthusiasts will find structure. Occasional drinkers will find simplicity.
It can open an aperitif, accompany a meal, or turn up on a terrace unannounced.
A beer that circulates easily, without ever becoming invisible.
It doesn't need a special occasion. And perhaps that's its true role: simply being there, naturally.
An anniversary beer… That says something about the times
Yes, this beer celebrates 7 years of Gueule de Joie. But it also tells another story: a market that is evolving, habits that are changing, a desire to consume differently without giving up taste or pleasure.
In this still-flourishing category of the best alcohol-free beers, it acts as a simple reference point. A gateway.
Not the only one. But a good first step.
