Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by Rob Fink, a lawyer, with his school friend/bandmate, designer and entrepreneur, James Kindred.
The idea for a brewery that only made non-alcoholic beer was motivated by their own lifestyle changes (e.g., fatherhood) and frustration that there were no good non-alcoholic beer options.
Together with renowned experimental brewer Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co.), they perfected techniques for making non-alcoholic craft beer without artificially removing the alcohol. The result makes no compromises on taste and yet is no more than 0.5% ABV.
Big Drop doesn't just use barley. It uses barley, rye, wheat, and oats to create a rich flavor and aroma. And it doesn't use just one type of each. In its beers, it uses more than 20 specialty grains. Its wide range of beers includes Stout, Lager, Pale Ale, IPA, Brown Ale, Golden Ale, Winter Ale, and Sour. So there really is something for everyone.

World Beer Awards 2019
- The Citra won the British bronze medal for its full-power IPA session.

- Citra won the overall champion trophy for the non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beer category.

- Citra was crowned “King of Craft” at the show, which was dominated by full-strength beers.
