Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by Rob Fink, a lawyer, along with his school friend and bandmate, designer and entrepreneur James Kindred.
The idea of a brewing company that only made alcohol-free beer was driven by their own lifestyle changes (such as parenthood) and the frustration that there were no good alcohol-free beer options.
With renowned experimental brewer Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they perfected techniques for making alcohol-free craft beer without needing to artificially remove the alcohol. The result makes no compromise on taste and is yet no more than 0.5% ABV.
Big Drop does not use only barley. It uses barley, rye, wheat and oats to deliver great flavour and aroma. And it does not use just one type of each. In its beers, it uses more than 20 specialty grains. Its wide range of beers includes Stout, Lager, Pale Ale, IPA, Brown Ale, Golden Ale, Winter Ale and a Sour. So there really is something for everyone.

World Beer Awards 2019
- The Citra won the British bronze medal for its full-strength session IPA.
- The Pale Ale won the British bronze for low-strength pale beer.
European Beer Challenge 2019
- The Lager and the Stout both won two gold medals.
Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival 2019
- The Stout won gold, along with the overall title of Best in Show.
International Beer Challenge 2019
- The Stout won bronze in the No / Lo category.
US Open Beer Championship 2019
- The Stout won gold in the alcohol-free Stout category
- The Citra won silver in the alcohol-free IPA category.
The International Brewing and Cider Awards 2019
- The Citra won the overall champion trophy for the alcohol-free and low-alcohol beer category.
- The Stout won silver in the No and Low Alcohol category.
Casual Dining Show 2019
- The Citra was crowned "King of Craft" at the show, which was dominated by full-strength beers.
BBC Food & Farming Awards 2018
- Big Drop was named one of the three "best drinks producers".
